This course is for the three year renewal of the certification for mature driver safety insurance discounts.  First-time certification requires the full day course.  Please see information in the course listed as “Mature Driver Safety” if you are interested in participating in the program for the first time.

In California, those who are 55 years of age or more are eligible for a discount on their automobile insurance if they attend the Mature Driver Safety course.  Completion of this course provides a DMV certificate that is valid for 3 years of insurance discounts.  Check with your insurance provider to learn the discount amount for your policy.

Topics covered in this course include risk management, a review of traffic laws, updates on new laws, habits that can compensate for the natural mental and physical changes of aging, aggressive driving, impaired driving and much more.  This is one of the most popular courses at the council and it often sells out very quickly. 

Payment in advance is required.  Reservations are taken on a 1st paid basis.  Classes fill quickly.  Mail a check or money order to the council or come to the council office.  If paying with cash, exact change is required. The council makes every effort not to cancel or overbook classes, therefore, tuition is not refundable or transferable to a different date.  No walk-ins are admitted on the day of the class.
